Day 5
Nothing much going on today. Weight 177.6 - lost 8.1 lbs in 5 days. Decided to break fast, but will continue with modified diet for rest of week while Michele continues on her detox.
As a primary care physician, I am exposed to all kinds of sick people. I always thought I was pretty healthy, but a couple of years ago I came to the realization that I was 40 yrs old, 40 lbs overweight with diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I had been taking medications (found in my sample closet) intermittently feeling that this made me impervious to all the foods I loved to eat - ice cream, cookies, pastries, pasta, big steaks, and soda - which was diet soda, of course.
As an experiment, I changed my diet completely - lost 35 lbs, was able to stop all medications - and am now healthier than I had been while on medications. I didn't want to believe that not eating my favorite foods would make a difference, but it did. Using my personal experiences, I have worked with over 300 people to change their lives as well - my "biggest loser" to date has lost 120 lbs in a little over 8 months (the equivalent of getting bariatric surgery).
This is my blog of my struggles and successes.
